About Me

I’m Emily Langham, a former midwife turned (mostly) self-taught ceramicist.

I came to clay through grief really, after my mum passed away in 2019 my world was turned upside down. It forced me to search for more meaning and joy in my life, and made it very clear we don’t have time to do anything but what we are passionate about.

I’ve always loved clay, I can still remember the total absorption during my school art classes whenever we were allowed to work with clay. Even during my time as a student midwife I sought peace in a short 4 class course in pottery and loved every moment.

It took me a long time to realise that I could pursue my own dreams instead of following the expected path in life. Eventually I joined a local community arts centre and found a community of lovely potters. They inspired me, and encouraged me, and helped me find myself again.

So here I am now making and teaching and loving every moment.

Please come and join me in a class or follow me on Instagram to see the things I like to make.

Peace and love,

Emily
